“Ba De” – full name in birth certificate is Dang Thi Kim Lien – was born in 1922, at Vy Da hamlet – Hue city. “Ba De” is the eldest sister in a poor urban family with 1 brother and 7 sisters.
Her husband – Mr. Mai De was born in 1917 at Tan Luu, Hoa Vang district, Quang Nam Danang province (Danang city today). He passed away in Nham Tuat year (1956) at the age of 41 and left her with a band of young children to include 5 daughters, 1 son and 1 adopted child. Since then she and her children have made “nem” and “tre” from generation to generation at 81 Hai Phong street (former 53 and 35 Nguyen Hoang) – Danang. |

Ba De “Tre” has obtained reputation over years. In 1992, she had a stroke and was treated and cared by doctors and family. However, she died at 3:00am 18 November 1994 at the age of 72. She was buried next to her husband at Hoa Hai commune, Hoa Vang district, Danang city.
”Ba De” started making “tre”, “nem”, “cha” in 1956 and taught secrets to her eldest daughter – Ms. Mai Thi Thu Thao (nick name Ms. Nghia). |
